The OREGON CHAMBER PLAYERS has a commitment to music education
and to making music accessible to our audience and young musicians
alike. Budget cuts in school music programs have had a devastating
impact on the state of the arts for the next generation. The OCP
has made it a priority to keep music alive by offering our unique
Student Apprenticeship Program,
informative concert-program notes (often provided by well-known
musicians and music lovers from the Northwest, such as John Pitman
from KBPS and Northwest musician Gordon Solie, international music
celebrities such as Malcolm Miller, and our popular open rehearsals
that come complete with easy-to read and understand music-listening
guides - plus a Q & A period with our musicians. The OREGON
CHAMBER PLAYERS and Artistic Director Timoteus Racz are trying
to keep music in the lives of Northwest youth by the formation of
the Junior Symphony of Vancouver. We are now going into our
successful ninth Season with the JSV, and this important opportunity
for talented young musicians from Oregon & Washington is made
possible by the OREGON CHAMBER PLAYERS.
